Why grooming matters
People notice your face, your hair and your hands before they notice your clothes. A good shirt does not help if your nails are dirty.
The good news is that grooming is easy. You only need to do small things on time.
Every day (about ten minutes)
- Wash your face. Morning and night, with a gentle face wash.
- Moisturize. A small amount after you wash.
- Use sunscreen in the morning.
- Shower and use deodorant.
- Brush your teeth twice. Clean your tongue.
- Comb or style your hair.
- Shave, or tidy your beard.
Every week
- Trim your beard. Clean the line on your neck and cheeks.
- Cut your nails. Hands and feet. Clean under them.
- Check your eyebrows, nose and ears. Trim any long hairs.
- Wash your hair two or three times. More if you sweat a lot.
Every month
- Get a haircut. Every three to six weeks for short hair.
- Change your razor blade when it pulls.
- Change your toothbrush every three months.
The whole routine in one table
| Part | What to do | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Face | Wash, moisturize, sunscreen in the morning. | Every day |
| Hair | Comb or style. Haircut every three to six weeks. | Every day |
| Beard | Tidy each day. Trim and clean the lines. | Once or twice a week |
| Teeth | Brush twice. Clean your tongue. | Every day |
| Nails | Cut short and clean. | Once a week |
| Body | Shower and deodorant. | Every day |
| Scent | One or two sprays. Not more. | When you go out |
Your hair
- Ask your barber which cut suits your face. Take a photo of a cut you like.
- Use a small amount of product. Your hair should not look wet or hard.
- Keep the hair at your neck and around your ears neat. It makes any haircut look fresh.
Your beard
- Pick one: a clean shave, a very short beard, or a full beard. Each one needs care.
- The neck line sits just above the bump at the front of your throat. Shave below it.
- Wash and comb your beard. A drop of beard oil keeps it soft.
Small things people notice
- Clean, short nails.
- Fresh breath.
- Lips that are not dry. Use a lip balm.
- Ironed clothes and clean shoes.
- A light scent, not a strong one.
Know what to work on
Ukti is our app. Once a week you take two photos, and it gives you a Look score. It reads your face, skin, hair and grooming, and gives a score for each part.
It shows the one part to work on this week. It gives you a short list of things to do, and a daily checklist. If a barber can do it better, Ukti says so. You can share the notes for one part as a picture and show it to your barber.

Be careful
